Hello everyone, welcome to the tenth company spotlight!
This time I got to interview John, the owner of the largest martial arts search platform in the UK called Spartner. On Spartner's platform, you can find sparring partners, nutritionists, and more.
Without further ado, here is the interview with John!
1. Tell us a little bit about your brand. Who are you and what do you guys represent?
Spartner was 1st developed as there was a big gap in the market for a platform for martial artists to communicate. The main issue was there is nowhere for martial artist to find sparring partners.
From this problem the platform was designed and slowly developed to cover all aspects a martial artist could possibly need from finding a Gym, Nutritionist, Physiotherapist to sparring partners and Strength & conditioning coaches.
We feel we represent the whole martial arts community, the platform is completely free to sign up and is constantly being developed we have some exciting plans for 2021, with Big brands coming onboard to give discounts to account holders and also a forum setup where all martial artists can communicate to solve any problems they may have. Spartner will basically be a one stop shop for any martial artist to fulfil their full potential.
2. What are some of your proudest moments in developing your brand?
Our proudest moments developing the Brand have been just before and after launch of the platform, when we where doing market research, we spoke to quite a few professionals and they all said the same thing about the platform, that it was a game changer and could be the Facebook for martial artists. 5-7 years from idea to platform launching was a proud achievement, hearing the feedback from users how much its helped them has been great.
3. How do you spend your time building your brand (marketing, advertising, etc.)
We are spending a lot of our time with platform development currently, the original idea was for it just to help people find sparring partners but now we have had to evolve and the platform needs to do everything, that a Fighter would require to train to there full potential. We are currently getting a team together who will work on our socials as we have found this soon becomes a full time job on its own.
4. What are some of the hardships that you have faced when building your company, and how did you- or are planning to-overcome them?
Through building and launching the platform, the hardships we have found is getting the platform out there, everyone we speak to says its an amazing idea, but them signing up is another thing. We plan to simplify the whole process and have video tutorials and make the sign up process more user friendly, these are all constant improvements we are and will be making to get the platform to the top of the market.
5. Where do you see your brand in 5-10 years? If you could summarize your brand in a quote, what would it be?
We see the Brand in 5-10 years becoming well known within the Martial arts industry and being the go to platform. Once established we plan on doing a lot of sponsorship programs for Fighters and Events and perhaps one day running are own Spartner Championship. I would summarise our Brand in a quote as, ''With all the chaos around we must seek opportunity and take ourselves to the next level, don't look back to realise you missed it, because you actually had it. If you stop before the count, you've lost. Unlock and fulfil your potential on spartner.co.uk.''
6. What advice would you give to your past self of when you first started the company?
Advice I would give to my past self, would be to enjoy the journey more, its too easy to get bogged down with dead lines and annoyed and unhappy when things don't go to plan.
7. Are there any particular types of athletes you had in mind to sponsor?
The athletes we would like to sponsor our up and coming fighters, looking at putting their stamp on there particular discipline be it Boxing, Jiu jitsu or MMA.
8. What do you look for when sponsoring someone?
When sponsoring someone we look for how well they are going to represent the Brand for us and help us both grow together.
9. Do you have any projects or products you are working on or would like to promote?
As discussed earlier are main job currently is getting the platform out there so are main objective is promoting this.
10. Is there anyone you would like to give a shoutout to?
We would like to give a shout out to Liam McCully and Halton Brazilian Jiu jitsu club, hes a local Jiu jitsu fighter we work with along with his club HBJJ, they have been one of the first clubs and fighters we have cooperated with and it has been very successful for all of us.
